Ensuring WA Citrus Tastes Great

Ensuring citrus is picked when it tastes good is important for keeping consumers coming back to WA citrus. WA citrus growers are able to take advantage of pre-harvest testing for internal fruit quality. Two free tests per variety per grower are available through the season.

Knowing the taste of our fruit is still the best it can be once its on the market floor or shop shelves is also important to us. Oranges and mandarins from the wholesale and retail sector are sampled for internal quality testing.

This program is funded by Horticulture Innovation Australia Limited (HIAL) with co-investment from the Agriculture Produce Commission, DAFWA and funds from the Australian Government. Bronwyn Walsh, the value chain coordinator, monitors results and follows up with growers

WA Citrus Packers

A great place to see lots of WA citrus fruit in one place is the WA pack sheds. WA citrus packers make sure WA citrus fruit is packed to consistent standards for consumers and buyers. Any issues they see coming through the sheds are discussed. This is important if there are common issues across the state that may need investigating.
